KnECT International News

Our project in Nicaragua for 2008 was to help with the construction of a Church addition at the Templo Hermosa in Masaya. We were able to build three block walls with the help of our foreman, Mauricio, our interpreter and construction worker, Samuel, and many others from the community. Many clothes, blankets and shoes were handed out to the families of the Church and community.

A day trip to El Viejo was made to paint part of a medical clinic. We also provided a Dental Enclave to a dentist at the clinic. Their enclave was damaged and they were unable to sterilize what little tools they had.

Kn.E.C.T. was beat in a rousing soccer game at the Remar orphanage where we handed out toys, games and soccer uniforms for the boys.

The team visited a school and feeding centre at Tipi Tapa to provide much needed bowls for the feeding centre and many, many school supplies for the children. The teacher of the school was very excited to receive these supplies. They had never had an art class before due to lack of supplies. What a thrill for the children.

Kn.E.C.T. also made a visit to the Women’s Hospital in Managua where a donation was made in honour of Brenda, sister of Lawrie, one of our team members.

In Xiloa, we were able to provide Francesca with a propane stove for her feeding centre. She feeds about 300 children five times a week. KnE.C.T. also provides a monthly donation for vegetables, oil and salt.

Our team decided to bless the community at Templo Hermosa with food. We made up approximately 60 bags of food containing rice, beans, corn and sugar. Each family received about two weeks worth of food.
