Internationally Kn.E.C.T. likes to take on a project that will bring a community together and help support that community. We know that what we are doing will not change the world but we do try to make a positive change in the lives of the Nicaraguan people.
“What we are trying to do may be just a drop in the ocean but the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.”
- Mother Teresa
Kn.E.C.T. is currently providing international help to a feeding centre run out of Apostolica Principe de Paz, Xiloa, the site of our second build. When we left Xiloa, Nicaragua in 2006 we left them with a Church. Today they have a feeding centre attached to the Church. Francesca, who ran the children’s ministry at the Church, now lives in a building attached to the Church. From this building she feeds about 300 children five times a week. Kn.E.C.T. provides the money needed to purchase vegetables, oil and salt. Also, we were able to provide her with a propane stove to make the job a bit easier. (She doesn’t need to gather wood for the fire anymore.) Kn.E.C.T. also provides the money for her to purchase the propane needed for the stove.
Our team decided to bless the community at Templo Hermosa (the site of our third build ) with food. We made up approximately 60 bags (800 lbs.) of food containing rice, beans, corn and sugar. This was enough food to feed each family for about two weeks. We also provided money to help a family in need of transportation so that their child could attend Cancer treatments.
Currently, Kn.E.C.T. supports a family in Nicaragua. We provide a monthly donation to a family for medications for diabetes and epilepsy.
Our team has participated on many missions in the past. The following is information on our past projects:
